Levain’s Black & White Weekend Comes to Orange County for the First Time

09.09.26

Levain Bakery's most popular limited-edition cookie is coming to Orange County for the first time. The Black & White Cookie, a longtime fan favorite, will be available at Levain's Fashion Island bakery in Newport Beach for four days only, Friday, Sept. 11 through Monday, Sept. 14, National Black & White Cookie Day.

Now in its third year, Black & White Weekend has become an annual tradition for Levain, and this is the first time Orange County guests can celebrate it at their own neighborhood bakery.

This year brings new ways to enjoy the weekend. Guests can pair the cookie with a Black & White Cookie Milk Latte, and the first 50 people to order the cookie each day will get a limited-edition Black & White mini tote.

The Black & White Chocolate Chip Cookie was created for Levain's Flatiron bakery in New York City and puts the bakery's spin on a classic New York treat: a soft, thick and chewy dark chocolate cookie loaded with white chocolate and milk chocolate chips. What started as a local favorite has turned into a limited-run event that guests look forward to all year.

For the latte, Levain steeps its Black & White Chocolate Chip Cookies in oat milk overnight to create a cookie milk base. It's combined with a fresh espresso shot and topped with white chocolate cold foam and cookie crumbles, essentially the Black & White Cookie in drink form.

Both items will be available in the bakery and through third-party delivery from Sept. 11 through 14 only. Levain Bakery Newport Beach is located at 315 Newport Center Drive within Fashion Island and is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

LAWineFest Marks 21 Years With a New Home at the LA Equestrian Center

09.09.26

LAWineFest is celebrating its 21st year with a move to a new venue: the Los Angeles Equestrian Center, set against the tree-lined edges of Griffith Park. The festival runs Sept. 12 and 13, bringing two days of wine tasting, live music and community spirit to a fresh setting between the 5 and 134 freeways.

For more than two decades, LAWineFest has built a reputation as a welcoming spot for wine lovers of every level, and the new location adds mountain views and open, shaded grounds to the mix. The Equestrian Center is home to hundreds of horses and regularly hosts dressage and polo events, giving the fest a distinctly elegant backdrop.

Guests can sample wines, craft beer, cider and non-alcoholic options from local and international producers, alongside food trucks, artisan shopping and live music from the Unofficial Slam Band. A VIP Garden ticket adds access to boutique wineries, extra bites, and shaded seating.

The event benefits the Los Angeles Boys & Girls Club and this year welcomes AHEAD With Horses, a nonprofit offering equine-assisted therapy, as a charitable partner.
